The activities of the Bernhard Remmers Institute for Analytics cover a broad spectrum of laboratory analyses. The typical questions are aimed at the damage mechanisms of moisture, salt stress, loss of strength, etc., which affect building materials. Building materials are processed, tested, analysed and the results evaluated on over 500 m² of laboratory space using state-of-the-art methods.

Every planning, conception and realisation of repair projects is preceded by a profound scientific analysis of the "existing situation". A strong partner in the field of laboratory analyses is therefore essential.

The independent and neutral Bernhard Remmers Institut für Analytik GmbH (BRIfA) was founded in 2015 after 35 years of experience in the field of analytical building material testing.

This institute is accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 as a testing laboratory for chemical and physical analyses of concrete, concrete products, bricks, natural stone, paints and coating materials. (Akkreditierungsnr. D-PL-20117-01)

Highly qualified specialist personnel

All employees are not only highly qualified, but also specialists in their respective fields. There are separate teams of experts for the various testing methods and materials. For the client, however, there is a central contact person who receives the project, coordinates it internally, sends final analyses and provides advice. This channelling enables flexibility and short response times. In addition, employees are always kept up to date with the latest technology through further and advanced training programmes. The establishment of an independent, accredited laboratory company guarantees absolute neutrality in the performance of analyses and the results of laboratory activities. The work spectrum covers a wide range of analytical services in the areas of wood, wood-based materials, wood preservatives, mineral building materials, synthetic resin coatings, paints, varnishes and other materials. The clients, consisting of private customers, architects, processors or public institutes, are as diverse as the service portfolio and are served by BRlfA using the latest analytical methods.

The results of the tests carried out at the Bernhard Remmers Institut für Analytik (BRIfA) are often the basis for remediation recommendations by experts and specialised companies. The characteristic values determined in our test laboratory can be decisive for the award and scope of a contract. It is therefore important to test the analyses precisely and with the greatest possible reliability, in accordance with current standards or guidelines and the state of the art. Where BRIfA uses in-house methods, these are described in detail and validated.

A comprehensive system for monitoring test equipment ensures that only calibrated and approved test equipment is used. The equipment required to carry out the tests is kept up to date with the latest technology. Regular participation in round robin tests and comparative tests, as well as internal and external monitoring, ensure that absolutely reproducible test results are produced.

DAkkS accreditation received

Planning security and a reliable database are the be-all and end-all in building maintenance. In November 2015, the same year it was founded, BRIFA received accreditation in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The DAkkS (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH) thereby confirms our precise working methods and the reliability of the test results. These are based on the fact that only calibrated and approved test equipment is used and that the analysers are state of the art. The accreditation makes BRIfA a fully competent partner laboratory for all customers.
